Yellowstone National Park
I teach an interdisciplinary course on Yellowstone National Park at my University integrating topics ranging from the volcanic origins of the Yellowstone plateau to the conflicts between westwardly migrating settlers and the native tribes who lived in the Yellowstone region. The course is offered during the summer months and culminates with a eleven-day field experience at Yellowstone and nearby Grand Teton National Park. During the field excursion we camp, hike, and are immersed in the landscapes and topics we have considered in the class. Most of the students who are taking this course are in environmental programs at my University, where I teach courses in environmental science and physics. However, students of other disciplines are also participate. This online material is a companion to the course and includes many of the actual assigned readings my students will be studying. You are invited to enroll and follow along. There is a small fee to enroll and proceeds benefit Starlight Studio, a program of my non-profit dedicated to K-12 and college educational enrichment.
